About Us - HPS
Himalaya Parvatiy Sangh (HPS), the first community organization of Mumbai Uttarakhandis, established in 1925 by like-minded individuals from Uttarakhand who aimed to connect, support, and protect our community members who had migrated to Mumbai City for better opportunities. Our primary objective is to promote and preserve the cultural heritage and interests of the Uttarakhandi community in Mumbai and its suburbs.
In 1945, we took a significant step by officially registering under the Society Registration Act, with our registered office located in Parel, Mumbai. This legal recognition has enabled us to function more effectively in pursuing our goals.
Over the years, we have achieved several milestones:
- In 1951, we registered as a public trust.
- In 1968, the Kumaon Urban Co-operative Credit Society was registered under our guidance.
- In 1973, we acquired a plot in Ghatkopar for our school, which is now known as “Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Vallabh Pant School”, currently educating over 400 students.
Our efforts extend beyond the community’s boundaries and include organizing cultural events, promoting traditional arts and crafts, providing support to Uttarakhandi individuals living away from their homeland, and advocating for the preservation of our unique identity.
Throughout the years, we have successfully conducted various events and initiatives, such as:
- Bhagwat Saptah and Samuhik Yagyopavit Janeu Sanskar since the last 22 years during the 2nd week of January.
- Rangeelo Pahad at Fine Arts Auditorium Chembur in December 2015.
- Gosthi and Kavi Samelan in association with Maharashtra Rajya Hindi Sahitya Academy at Mayor Hall, Andheri in March 2016.
- Contributed to the PM and CM funds during the Uttarakhand Aapda in 2016.
- Annual Day of School celebrations.
- Furthermore, Himalaya Parvatiy Sangh actively supports needy families in overcoming their educational and health challenges through dedicated funds.
We believe in the importance of celebrating and preserving the cultural heritage of various communities. Our commitment to this cause remains unwavering, and we continue to play a crucial role in achieving this goal.
Join us in our endeavors as we strive to strengthen the bonds of the Uttarakhandi community and foster a sense of unity and pride in our rich cultural heritage. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.
